Who Are We?
Nicaragua-Direct was founded in 1996. This after a few visits by Jens C. Nielsen and a colleague, Jerome Drosos to teach Hospitality and Tourism related subjects at the then University of Mobile’s satellite campus in San Marcos, Carazo.
Now, with the support and assistance from his family, this project has become a focal point in retirement. Jens retired from Triton College, River Grove, IL in 2004 after 32 years of service. He still teaches a class or two each semester combining that with administering the humanitarian efforts in in Nicaragua.
In 2009, Mr. Robert M. Anthony, also retired from Triton College offered to assist in Nicaragua and came along for the first time. Bob is now a vital part of the activities in Nicaragua and work well with our dedicated and trusted volunteers in Nicaragua and in the US.
We look at Nicaragua-Direct as being a privilege, as well as an opportunity, for us to serve in this way. – We are the facilitators who with the support of other caring individuals and some organizations are able to assist people in dire need. This effort will continue as long as we are able to and have the health and means to carry on.
It is our hope that you will consider joining us as we move forward. You will be rewarded for your efforts by knowing that your assistance are having a major impact on people whose life’s we connect with and make changes to. Also, that any support provided will be applied 100% to projects in process. Thank you for being part of our team ….
